THE SUPPORT TO LOCAL RESEARCH
The Louis-Jeantet Foundation invests almost CHF2m every year in support of local biomedical research. This sum is similar to that allocated to European research.
In this context it is duty bound to favour the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva - a close association, but one that does not prevent the Foundation from backing other institutions, nor from keeping an open mind to other perspectives.
The additional funds provided by the Foundation allow the Faculty to maintain or set up centres of excellence in priority research areas. These fields are neurosciences, chronic diseases (metabolic and vascular), transplants and stem cells, host-pathogen relationships, imaging and IT sciences, humanitarian medicine and genetics.
The goal of the Foundation is not to provide substitute financing for the State. It seeks to give the
Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva the financial flexibility it needs for the optimal achievement of its strategic objectives.
