THE 2000 LOUIS-JEANTET PRIZE-WINNERS are Konrad BASLER (Zurich), Thomas J. JENTSCH (Hamburg) and Ueli SCHIBLER (Geneva).
The 2000 Louis-Jeantet Prize for Medicine encourages research in three different domains.
Konrad BASLER will study the formation of tissues in the embryo by taking advantage of genetics in the fruit fly.
Thomas J. JENTSCH wants to elucidate the function of chloride transport across cell membranes and identify the cause of human inherited diseases related to it.
Ueli SCHIBLER plans experiments that will tell us how our molecular clocks tick in the brain and liver, and how genes are expressed with a circadian rhythm.
THE AWARD CEREMONY was held on Friday April 14, 2000, in Geneva (Switzerland).
