THE 2002 LOUIS-JEANTET PRIZE-WINNERS are Timothy J. RICHMOND (Zurich), Richard TREISMAN (London) and Karl TRYGGVASON (Stockholm).

Timothy J. RICHMOND will elucidate the basic principles of how DNA is packed in chromosomes by analysing the structure of the chromatin fibre and its interaction with chromatin remodelling complexes.

Richard TREISMAN will broaden our understanding of how serum stimulates cell proliferation through activation of newly discovered signal transmission pathways and transcription factors.

Karl TRYGGVASON wants to extend our knowledge on kidney diseases by searching for proteins typical of kidney glomeruli and studying their function in kidney filtration and disease.

THE AWARD CEREMONY was held on Friday April 19, 2002, in Geneva (Switzerland).
