THE LOUIS-JEANTET
YOUNG INVESTIGATOR CAREER AWARD
The Louis-Jeantet Young Investigator Career Award was awarded for the first time in 2011. No date for a future awarding has yet been set.
With this award, the Foundation intends to encourage the return to Europe, or the continued establishment there, of the best young talents in biomedical research from around the world.
On this account, the biologist Jason W. Chin, group leader at the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge (UK), received, in April 2011, a personal award of CHF25'000 and an amount of CHF400'000 for the continuation of is pioneering work on reprogramming the genetic code.
Jason W. Chin’s work allows designer amino acids to be encoded at specific, predetermined positions in proteins in vivo, enabling molecular biologists to control and elucidate the functions of proteins in cells with unprecedented precision.
