Privacy policy

The Louis-Jeantet Foundation respects your privacy

The protection of your privacy when processing personal data and the security of all personal data are a major concern for us. This statement informs you about the nature of the data we process about you, why we need it and how you can object to it being processed.

We only collect, process and store personal data in accordance with legal requirements or if you have given us your consent to do so, for example when registering for one of our events.

What personal data do we collect?

We only collect personal data in connection with our relationship with you. In particular, we collect your contact details, such as your name, telephone number or e-mail address, as well as other data in connection with the use of our website. The General Terms and Conditions apply to registration for our events. Information that cannot be linked to your identity (e.g. statistical data on the number of users of our online service) does not constitute personal data.

How do we collect personal data?

As a general rule, we collect personal data in the following cases: when you visit our website, when you communicate directly with us, when you register for our events or when you give us your personal data for other reasons. In all cases, we will only process your personal data for the specified purposes, which you can review.

Do we pass on your personal data?

In principle, we only pass on your personal data to third parties if we are legally authorised or if you have given us your consent to do so. For example, when we entrust mailings to third parties, such as printing agencies. Insofar as data is disclosed abroad, we guarantee that we comply with the legal requirements in this respect (guarantee of adequate protection).

External service providers who process data on our behalf are bound by a strict obligation of confidentiality within the meaning of the Federal Data Protection Act. We have checked that external service providers are able to guarantee data security. They may only entrust the processing of personal data to a third party with our prior consent.

How long do we keep your personal data?

In principle, we only keep your data for as long as is necessary for our business relationship with you or as long as we have a legitimate interest in doing so. In all other cases, we delete your personal data, with the exception of that which we must retain in accordance with our legal obligations (for example, we are required by law to retain documents such as contracts and invoices for a period of 10 years).

What data is processed when using our website?

In principle, you can visit our website without providing any personal data. When you visit our website, our servers temporarily record any access in a log file. The following technical data is then collected and saved by us for up to seven months before being automatically deleted:

  • the date and time of access;
  • the website from which the access was made,
  • where applicable with the search term used;
  • the name and URL of the files accessed;
  • the search requests executed;
  • the operating system of your computer (communicated by the User Agent)
    the browser you use (communicated by the User Agent);
  • the type of device in the case of access from a mobile phone;
  • the transmission protocol used.

Collecting and processing this data enables us to ensure system security and stability, analyse errors and performance, compile internal statistics and optimise our Internet offering. The IP address is also used to set the default language for the website. Finally, when you visit our website, we use cookies as well as applications and tools based on the use of cookies. You will find more information on this in the next section.

YouTube: as soon as you visit a page on the jeantet.ch website containing a YouTube video, a connection is established with the YouTube servers (YouTube LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA; subsidiary of Google LLC). External modules (plugins) may be used from time to time. You will find further information on the collection and use of your data by YouTube in the YouTube Privacy Policy.

What are cookies and when are they used?

Cookies are small text files stored on your computer when you visit our website. If you open this page again, your browser will send us the contents of the cookies, which enables the terminal to be recognised. The use of cookies enables us to optimise our website for you and make it easier for you to use.

If you decide not to accept cookies, you can deactivate and delete them in your browser at any time. Please consult your browser’s help function. However, deactivating cookies may prevent you from taking advantage of certain functions on our website. If you use a different browser or terminal, you will need to deactivate or delete the cookies again.

The website indicated below also offers the option of managing the use of cookies by third-party service providers and deactivating them: http://www.youronlinechoices.com/de/praferenzmanagement. We do not operate this website and are therefore not responsible for its content or accessibility, over which we have no control.

How are tracking tools used?

We need statistical information on the use of our online services (in particular our website) in order to make them more effective and to carry out audience analyses. To this end, we use web analysis tools, in particular Google Analytics. The usage profiles established by these tools using analysis cookies do not include any personal data. The tools do not use users’ IP addresses at all or use them in abbreviated form immediately after they are collected.

In addition to the data mentioned above (see ‘What data is processed when using our website?’), we collect the following information:

  • the navigation path leading the visitor to the website
    the duration of the visit to the website or consultation of a page;
  • the page on which the website is exited;
  • the country, region or town of origin of the access;
  • the terminal (type, version, colour depth, resolution, width and height of the browser window);
  • whether it is a repeat or new visitor.

This information is used to analyse the use of the website. If you wish to deactivate Google Analytics, you will find an add-on module for your browser at http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en. As explained in the previous section, you can prevent the creation of usage profiles by deactivating the use of cookies globally.

Social media

Our website contains links or plugins to various social networks (such as X and LinkedIn). By clicking on the links, you open the corresponding social media sites, for which this data protection declaration does not apply. Please consult the details of the specific provisions in the data protection declaration of the provider concerned on its website.

No personal information is transmitted to the relevant provider before the corresponding link or plug-in is activated. The opening of the corresponding site is the basis for data processing by the service provider concerned. We have no influence whatsoever on the data processing operations and are completely unaware of what data is collected, the purpose for which it is processed and the storage periods. Nor do we have any information about the deletion of data by the plug-in provider.

What rights do you have in relation to your personal data?

You have the following rights with regard to your personal data:

  • You may request information about the personal data we hold about you.
  • You may request that your personal data be corrected, supplemented, blocked or deleted.

To exercise your rights, simply send us a letter by post or an e-mail. See the Contact section.

Data security

We use appropriate technical and structural security measures to protect the personal data we hold against manipulation, partial or total loss or unauthorised access by third parties. Our security measures are constantly being improved in line with technological developments.

Changes to this data protection declaration

We reserve the right to amend and supplement this declaration at any time at our discretion and in accordance with data protection legislation. Please consult this declaration regularly.
