THE 1999 LOUIS-JEANTET PRIZE-WINNERS are Adrian P. BIRD (Edinburgh), Herbert JÄCKLE (Göttingen) and Jean-Louis MANDEL (Strasbourg).

The 1999 Louis-Jeantet Prize for Medicine honours research works in molecular genetics.

The range of research recognised by the prize goes from the most basic aspects of genetics to concrete diagnostic developments.

Adrian P. BIRD and Herbert JÄCKLE study the control of gene expression, whereas Jean-Louis MANDEL works on the diagnosis of the genetic lesions that cause severe inherited diseases.
